The Road Side Vendors’ Welfare Association (RSVWA) demanded full implementation of the Street Vendors Act 2014, considering the welfare of the vendors who are struggling for a one-day meal.

The RSVWA raised the demand during the celebration of its silver jubilee at the GM Hall in Imphal West on Wednesday.

Speaking at the occasion, RSVWA president Ksh Tama alleged that the Street Vendors Act implemented in 2014 has become a ghost act as the state government neglected the welfare of the street vendors.

She pointed out that, till date, the government has not taken up any appropriate survey and actions that are needed to be taken up by establishing a vending committee, she added.

The issues of street vendors in the state will never come to a good ending unless and until the government implements the Street Vendors Act seriously, she added.

Street vendors play a vital role in upliftment of the state's economy, she said, adding besides the economy street vendors have been participating in every important issue of Manipur.
