Manipur: Rabies death toll reaches four

The fourth victim of rabies in Manipur was hospitalised at RIMS on March 13 after being bitten by his own dog on January 25.

The fourth victim of the viral disease rabies in Manipur succumbed to the disease on Sunday after undergoing treatment at RIMS isolation department.

The deceased is identified as Khumanthem Tolangou, 63, of Nachou Ward No. 2 Bishnupur District. He was hospitalised at RIMS on March 13 after being bitten by his own dog on January 25. 

He was discharged on Sunday after the doctors of the isolation ward had no hope on the patient. He succumbed to the disease on his way home from the hospital at his residential gate in Nachou.

It may be mentioned that as per RIMS isolation ward staff, not a single patient admitted with Rabies Encephalitis has left the hospital alive. Death toll of the viral disease has reached four.
