The protest was organised by Nungbrang Apunba Meira Paibis along with clubs and organisations. Condemnations were raised against the arrest of the seven people who have been jailed till date.

Secretary of Nungbrang Apunba Meira Paibi Lup Sobita said that the seven persons are innocent.

The public upheaval was a reaction against the attacks carried out by the Kuki community, she said.

She appealed to the authorities to release the seven people by considering the plights of their families. She also urged the general public to extend support in their protest to release them from jail.

One of the family members said that all the seven persons are daily wagers and the sole breadwinner of their families. Some of them have small children, he further said, appealing that the case be transferred from Guwahati High Court to Manipur High Court.
