Manipur Police dismantle unauthorised bunker

One unauthorised bunker was dismantled in Churachandpur district.

The Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Saturday stated that the situation in the state was tense but under control with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of protestors during the last 24 hours.

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Bishnupur districts, stated a release.

During the operations, one unauthorised bunker was dismantled in Churachandpur district, it stated.

One SMG 9mm Carbine with one magazine, one 9mm Pistol with one magazine, one Pistol,four 36 HE Hand Grenade along with two detonators, four Chinese Hand Grenade, one Tear Gas Grenade, one Stun Grenade, one Tube Launching, one live 84mm illumination shell, four Shot gun shell and two 12 bore cartridge were recovered from Imphal West District.

One 7.62mm SLR Rifle, one .303 Rifle with one magazine, two 36 HE Hand Grenade with detonator, two Chinese Walkie talkie set, three 40 mm Lathode Bomb, one Tube Launcher, two arm ring, five Stun Shell, one tear Smoke shell, one Stringer Hand Grenade and one Grenade key were recovered from Thoubal District.

It further stated that the movement of 147 and 265 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it stated.

A total of 141 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 341 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State, it mentioned.

Appeal is made to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos.

Any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumour free number - 9233522822 of Central Control room. Further, an appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately, it added.
