Manipur police arrest three KCP(PWG) cadres

Manipur Police on Tuesday arrested three active cadres of the outlawed KCP(PWG) from Bishnupur District, for involvement in extortion of money from the general public and government officials.

Police control room in a press note on Tuesday said that the cadres were arrested in possession of one 9mm pistol with four live rounds, one demand letter of KCP(PWG), three mobile phones, Rs 5,820 in cash and 2 Two-wheeler vehicles were also recovered. A case has been registered in this regard and investigation is ongoing.

It stated that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense with sporadic incidents of firing but under control, it added.

Movement of 329 and 159 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it stated.

A total of 141 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 206 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state, it mentioned.

Appeal is made to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumour free number - 9233522822 of Central Control room. Further, an appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
