The State-level Orange Festival Tamenglong is likely to be held again from December 14 to 15, 2022 after a gap of two years. The state-level Orange Festival was halted after the state was hit by COVID 19 pandemic.
The decision was taken during a meeting of district level officers, Tamenglong chaired by MLA Janghemlung Panmei at the conference hall of deputy commissioner office Tamenglong on Thursday.
The meeting resolved to bring back the festival and celebrate it in a grand manner with great entertainment like it was done in the past years.
Panmei suggested the formation of a state-level committee, district-level committee and local committees as well.
During the meeting, he requested the district-level officers to shift their offices back to the mini secretariat complex by October 31.
He assured that the roads will be motorable soon and he is in touch with the contractors for completion at the earliest.
He informed that the construction of town roads will start soon. He added that he has given two week’s time to PHED to repair all the pipelines before the construction.
Panmei also mentioned that some development funds lapsed due to lack of proper lands. He said that the lack of government land is a big issue in Tamenglong district.
It was also announced during the meeting that ‘Miyam gee numit’ will be held on October 21. The DLOs were requested to open their respective stalls to provide services and give awareness about the scheme taken up.
