Manipur: One detained from entering Kanglatongbi

The individual was suspected to be under the influence of drugs.

In the early hours of Monday, Sekmai Police, in collaboration with 22 Assam Rifles, intercepted an individual attempting to drive towards Kanglatongbi Forest gate within the jurisdiction of Sekmai Police Station, Imphal West district.

The individual was riding a TVS scooty with registration number MN06SH7862 at the time of the interception, which occurred around 1.50 am.

The person, identified as Thongam Premjit (49), son of (Late) Th Basanta of Thangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai, was suspected to be under the influence of drugs. Additionally, his face was partially covered in blood, from a self-inflicted accident.

Upon being stopped at a security checkpoint, Sekmai Police and 22 Assam Rifles personnel promptly assessed the situation and intervened to prevent any potential harm.

Thongam Premjit was handed over to his family members by the Sekmai Police Station.
