Manipur: Oil pumps to reopen today

On Thursday, the All Manipur Petroleum Dealers took a unanimous decision to shut down oil pumps for three consecutive days starting from Friday due to the ongoing conflict which has crossed more than nine months in the state.

All Manipur Petroleum Dealers have decided to open pumps from Sunday stating that chief secretary of Manipur has assured for looking into the matter of their demands.

On Thursday, the dealers took a unanimous decision to shut down oil pumps for three consecutive days starting from Friday due to the ongoing conflict which has crossed more than nine months in the state.

Speaking to media persons in Imphal, the dealers said that a meeting was held with oil companies and also with chief secretary of Manipur regarding their strike on Friday.

During the meeting, the dealers put up their problems during the ongoing conflict and discussed the same. Then, on Saturday, they submitted representation to the chief secretary.

The dealers urged the government to liaise with the RBI or other banks to provide financial assistance by way of interest exemption and relaxation of EMI payment during the crisis.

They also urged the government to provide security at every retail outlets from the miscreants who have threatened the staffs, owners with exorbitant demands by way of frequent patrolling and not static positioning of the police personnel at a particular point.

The dealers said that they also asked the state government to improve the condition of Jiribam Highway as it is takes two days to transit from Jiribam to Imphal for loaded tankers and also provide adequate security in order to stop collection of illegal taxes along the route.

They also urged the state government to protect them from any sudden reduction in retail selling price.

While meeting with IOCL, the dealers called for increasing the repayment time for EDOD from existing 3 days to at least 10 days and also avoid total default counts, as on top of the low sales revenue during the trying times, various bandhs, blockades, strikes do not make it feasible to meet time frame set to repay.

Investments viz. infrastructure investment, solar installations, EV charging equipment etc should be relaxed during the crisis. Lubricants and DEF products’ forceful stocking/invoicing to the ROs should be stopped during the crisis and also provide exchange facility for products with shell life such as DEF products. Relaxation on forceful push of invoicing to meet the monthly sales targets across all products set by the OMCs, dealers said.

To the BPCL, dealers called for increasing the repayment time for a given through credit facility from the existing seven days to at least 15 days.
