The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Saikul unit has warned of resorting to democratic forms of agitation if the party central leaders fail to give a clear response on the status of a party ticket in Saikul Assembly constituency by February 5.
The Manipur NPF set December 15, 2021 as the last date for submission of form for the forthcoming election. As per the information issued by the party, two intending candidates submitted their forms on December 15, 2021, NPF Saikul unit said in a release.
It said, after a gap of 46 days unexpectedly on January 31, 2022, the list of selected candidates was given out along with the constituencies in which Saikul Assembly constituency was left out without any NPF ticket.

In order to seek clarification, the Saikul NPF unit officials met some of the office-bearers in the NPF office Tarung and went to Kohima to meet the Candidates Selection Committee and also the Central office bearers on February 2 and met them in the office chamber of the secretary general of the central office, it explained.
After deliberating on the issue of not setting out NPF candidates in Saikul and seeing and admitting to the seriousness of denying tickets to Saikul, the committee requested the visiting team from Saikul to be patient and that the committee along with the central leaders will seriously discuss the matter and let the Saikul NPF unit know the outcome before February 6, it added.
