Adding tension to ongoing unrest in Manipur, unknown miscreants on Sunday hurled a hand-grenade at the residence of FOCS president Thoidingjam Manihar at Kongba Kshetri Leikai, Ucheckon road, Imphal around 9 pm.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident as the bomb failed to go off.
As per report, family members of Th Manihar discovered the bomb around 9 pm in the front porch of the residence.
Following the incident, teams of Irilbung Police and bomb squads swiftly reached the scene and dispensed requisite measures to move the grenade to a safer location.
The bomb was safely disposed of at Awaching, Imphal East.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines, Th Manihar condemned the targeted attack on him and his family.
“I’ve dedicated my life for the betterment of the society and such an attack proves there are people who want to keep the society backwards”, he said.
He further appealed to all not to create unnecessary ruckus amid the crisis and also called upon the people to root out such people.
