Manipur media lifts boycott on MPCC

MPCC leaders extended assurance to clear election-related advertisement bills in two installments by October 22.

Editors’ Guild Manipur (EGM), Manipur Hill Journalists’ Union (MHJU) and All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) on Saturday lifted the media boycott on Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and its MLAs with immediate effect.

A release jointly issued by EGM president, MHJU president and AMWJU president stated that the media boycott of MPCC and its MLAs has been lifted following the assurance given by the MPCC president, Congress MLAs and MPCC office bearers in a joint meeting with representative of EGM, MHJU and AMWJU on August 26.

In the meeting, the MPCC leaders extended assurance to clear the election related advertisement bills in two installments by the end of October 22, it added. “The first installment of half the amount will be paid by September 10,” it mentioned.

Following MPCC’s assurance, a meeting of EGM, MHJU and AMWJU conducted at Manipur Press Club on Saturday resolved to lift the media boycott, it added.
