Manipur: Man shot dead, accused arrested

A 52-year-old man was shot dead at Lilong Nungei Makha Ningthikhong Bazaar on Wednesday.

A 52-year-old man was shot dead at Lilong Nungei Makha Ningthikhong Bazaar on Wednesday.

According to Police, the deceased has been identified as Md Najir Hussain, 52 years, son of late Md Noor Mohammad from Lilong Nungei. The incident reportedly occurred around 6.55 pm.

He was allegedly shot dead by one Md Jabir, 38 years, son of late Md Siraj Ahamad, alias Sanakhamba from Lilong Nungei by using a DBBL gun, police said. A case has been registered under case FIR No 44(5)2024 LIL-PS U/s. 302 IPC and 27 A Act.

The body has been shifted to JNIMS Mortuary for post mortem. Meanwhile, acting swiftly, police have arrested accused Md Jabir and requisitioned at Thoubal Police Station.
