The arrested person has been identified as one Laishram Malemnganba, son of Laishram Herojit of Waiton Maamng Leikai, Imphal East.

In a complaint lodged by state Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president M Barish Sharma on Monday, it was mentioned that a Facebook comment on November 5 at 1.10 pm by the individual could damage the BJP's image of being Hindu-centric and directly hurt the feelings of BJP functionaries in general.

Following the FIR, Malemnganba was arrested on Tuesday from his residence, and has been remanded in two-day police custody after he was brought before the CJM, Imphal East on Tuesday.
