The Joint Students’ Body (JSB), Lamka, Churachandpur district on Monday announced that the indefinite lockdown of government offices that began on Friday will continue.
A release stated that lockdown was launched against the de-affiliation of 25 CBSE schools in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts and the suspension of three officials of the zonal education office.
The lockdown was also launched against “the condemnable events that occurred against our people in Moreh, the unwarranted arrest of two of our leaders Philip Khongsai and Hemkholal Mate, the unethical support extended to the Manipur State Government by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the general indifference of the Union Government to the plight of our people,” it stated.
In continuation of the lockdown, the Joint Students’ Body (JSB), Lamka was compelled to close down the three-Day Training Programme by the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Lamka.
As drastic measures must be taken to make the voices heard, the closure of the Training Programme by the ZEO, Lamka was carried out, it mentioned.
“We would like to remind all of our resolve to stop at nothing until our demands are met,” it mentioned. Essential services such as those of the Electricity department, Medical department and the like will remain untouched, the indefinite lockdown of government offices will continue, it stated.
It appealed to all including government officials to cooperate by not attending work.
