Manipur: Liquor destroyed

The destroyed liquors were apprehended by excise stations of Pallel, Kakching, Thoubal, Lilong and Yairipok from June 1, 2023 till April 30, 2024.

Huge quantities of foreign made liquor and local liquor seized from different parts of Kakching and Thoubal district by Yairipok Excise, Thoubal district were destroyed and set ablaze at the office complex on Sunday.

The destroyed liquors were apprehended by excise stations of Pallel, Kakching, Thoubal, Lilong and Yairipok from June 1, 2023 till April 30, 2024.

The items were destroyed as per an order issued by the Commissioner of Excise Manipur Hungyo Worshang on May 9 as Yairipok excise station had no more space to store the seized items as it was already full from the previous seized items.

Speaking to the media, Deputy SP Excise Kh. Remmei said that liquor worth Rs. 45,507 was destroyed.

SP Excise Thingbaijam Brucelee, district nodal officer Excise Yairipok OC Pangambam Ranjit, councillors of Yairipok Municipal Council Akoijam Romesh, Gurumayum Ingocha Sharma and former chairperson Keisham Rupachandra were present at the scene.
