Imphal East Police were on the search for one Laishram Kiren Singh, 40 son of (L) Jatra Singh of Kontha Ahallup Maning leikai after receiving a complaint report filed by Laishram Alexander Singh, 47 that his cousin Kiren has been kidnapped by unknown miscreants who came on a Maruti Gypsy from Pangei bazar at around 12.30pm on Friday.
As per reports, Kiren was later found at Heingangkhong near an oil pump and was evacuated to Rims hospital for treatment and doctors declared as brought dead. A case has been registered at Heingang police and efforts are being made to identify the culprits.
The dead body has been deposited at the JNIMS morgue waiting for post mortem as the family suspects foul play besides the reported kidnap.
Meanwhile, police are questioning two of his friends who reported the incident of kidnapping.
