After halting work for five days from Thursday, journalists of Manipur resumed their normal duties on Tuesday.
A joint release issued by the general secretaries of All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and the Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) stated that the resolution was taken following a general body meeting of the two media bodies on Tuesday.
The immediate cease-work strike was jointly called by the two apex media bodies of the state namely AMWJU and the EGM, following which, local cable TV channels and local dailies suspended news service, it stated.
The statement also acknowledged the inconvenience caused to the public owing to blackout of news in the state for days and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
