The Manipur government has relaxed curfew within the jurisdiction of Jiribam Municipal Council from 9 am to 1.30 pm for Tuesday.
Additional District Magistrate, Jiribam, Th Manoranjan Singh, in a latest order on Monday said that the curfew was relaxed to facilitate the general public in purchasing essential items including medicines and food items, etc.
It mentioned that the relaxation will not apply to any gathering/large scale movement of persons/sit-in-protests/ rally, etc, which is unlawful in nature.
It further said that the relaxation was made following Superintendent of Police vide letter No 23 (LO)/SP JBM/2023), dated June 17, which informed about law and order in Jiribam Municipal area and requested relaxation of the Prohibitory order under Sub-Section 2 of section 144 CrPC, 1973 within Jiribam Municipal area from 9 am till 1.30 pm.
The District Magistrate had issued Prohibitory Orders under Sub Section 2 of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 restricting movement of persons outside their respective residences since June 6 vide Orders No 6/1/2/2022/DC(BM) dated June 6 in the whole area situated within the revenue jurisdiction of Jiribam district, it added.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Jiribam, Krishna Kumar in a public notice dated June 6 informed that a combined control room is being set up at DC office, Jiribam, in view of the current precarious law and order in the district.
The statement said that the control roll is set up to ensure effective, smooth and fast flow of communication and information for controlling the present situation.
It also instructed all controlling officers of relevant departments/establishments including Superintendent of Police, Jiribam;39 Assam Rifles, Kadamtala, Jiribam; 87 CRPF, Jiribam; 7th IRB, Jiribam and ADC/ADM/SDO/SDM, Jiribam and Borobekra to depute a responsible official(s) for immediate operationalisation of the control room. The notice also mentioned contact numbers of the control room – 7085052630 (ADM Jiribam) and 7005475374 (ASP Jiribam).
