The party also said it will ensure to provide adequate protection to the LGBT community and devised schemes for the upliftment of the LGBT community.

The party will address the issues of low capital formation, inadequate infrastructural facilities, compensating for geographical isolation, communication bottlenecks and industrialisation, it stated.

It also mentioned that the party will emphasize on bringing legislations to give 50 per cent reservation to women in local authority’s elections (Gram Panchayats, Zila Parishads and Autonomous District Councils), 35 per cent reservation to women in state government jobs and 33 per cent seats in professional colleges like medical and engineering colleges to girls.

It further gives its assurance for conduction of ADC election in six months if the party gets enough seats in the ensuing election.

Speaking to the media during the releasing ceremony of the manifesto, national election officer of JD-U Anil Hegde said that the party is committed to the establishment of a democratic socialist society and is against all forms of injustice, inequality and racism.

The party is also sensitive towards the vernacular histories of Manipur which has for centuries been multicultural, multi ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious and a pluralistic society, he said adding JD-U is serious about bridging the existing developmental gap between the hills and the valley.

The trust reposed on JD-U’s chief minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar by the people for the fourth consecutive term indicates the track record of the party’s leaders practicing what they preach, he pointed out.

Stating that JD-U will be contesting in 38 seats of the 60 seats in Manipur, he appealed to the people of the state to vote for the party, giving it enough seats so that the party can act as a pressure group in the future government.

“We shall extend support or enter into a post-poll coalition only with such parties which are in agreement of implementing all the issues covered in our party's manifesto,” he said, adding, “The manifesto is the road map for a robust and dynamic Manipur.”
