Manipur: Human bones recovered

As per police reports, Sugnu Police station recovered a human skull and bones on searching the area after receiving a missing report of a woman from Churachandpur Police station.

Sugnu police recovered a human skull and bones from Zou Veng, under Sugnu Police station, Kakching district around 12.20 pm on December 16.

As per police reports, Sugnu Police station recovered the skull and bones on searching the area after receiving a missing report of a woman from Churachandpur Police station.

A postmortem had been conducted at JNIMS mortuary on December 18 after a team of Forensic science laboratory investigated the findings. Gender of the skull is yet to be identified and a DNA test will also be conducted.

Meanwhile, a decomposed body, suspected to be that of a woman, was found in a swampy area near Meichakpi lake, south east of Keinou Mamang Leikai under Bishnupur Police station on Thursday at around 10 am.

SP Bishnupur reported that a team of Bishnupur police and forensic science laboratory reached the spot after locals who went to the lake side reported a foul smell.

The Forensic team examined the body at the spot and opined that the hand of the woman was tied behind by a cloth, another cloth strangulated the neck.

The stage of decomposition suggests that she died about two weeks ago, it added. The body has been deposited to RIMS mortuary after Bishnupur police registered a case.
