In a commendable display of solidarity and compassion, the Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association (MHGEWA) on Sunday orchestrated the distribution of financial aid under its self-created ‘Home Guard Welfare Scheme.’

The event, held at the MSFDS auditorium in Imphal East, marked a significant moment as Rs 1 lakh each was bestowed upon 44 retired Home Guard personnel. Additionally, families of three late Home Guard personnel were also recipients of this benevolent gesture.

Initiated in March 2022, the scheme garnered momentum with 552 members contributing Rs 500 monthly from their salaries. Subsequently, an additional 918 members joined the cause, amplifying its reach and impact.

Facilitated by the Punjab National Bank, this initiative embodies the collective spirit and dedication of the Home Guard community towards supporting its members in times of need.

Speaking at the distribution function, president of MHGEWA Y Mangi highlighted the plight of the Home Guard personnel after retirement, emphasising that they do not have any retirement benefits like other government employees.
