In a general body meeting held on Sunday at IMA Khunthokhanbi Sanglen, DM University Campus, Imphal, the Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association (MHGEWA) deliberated on crucial matters affecting Home Guards’ wellbeing.
During the meeting, MHGEWA secretary general Kh Inaobi Devi briefed attendees on the High Court’s order, emphasising the need for prompt implementation of increased Dearness Allowance (DA) from 14 per cent to 17.5 per cent and subsequent benefits.
Resentment was expressed over delays, and a resolution was passed urging the Home Department to expedite the process.
The meeting also discussed the extension of pensionary benefits for Home Guards as per the court order.
Members acknowledged its president Y Mangi Singh’s efforts and resolved to request the Home Department for immediate implementation.
The members unanimously agreed to contribute financially for legal assistance, emphasising adherence to Rules and Regulations No. 21(c) of the Memorandum of Association of MHGEWA. An agreement is to be signed between MHGEWA and Home Guard individuals.
Recognising the need for a separate full-time Commandant General (Home Guards) Manipur, a resolution was also passed to urge the Home Department for swift action to expedite the process of framing guidelines, MGEL, seniority lists, and transfer policies.
As per the resolution, Y Mangi Singh was authorised to submit the resolutions to the Chief Minister and the concerned authorities of the Home Department, Government of Manipur, highlighting the unanimous desires and opinions of the Home Guard personnel.
