The election petition filed by NPP candidate Soibam Subhaschandra against BJP candidate Sagolshem Kebi, who won the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa constituency, was heard by Justice A Bimol on December 7.

INC candidate Soiraisham Manaoton and Janata Dal-United candidate Konthoujam Manoranjan were mentioned as respondents.

The Manipur High Court framed seven issues on whether S Kebi Devi provided her real name in the affidavit of the nomination paper submitted for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election and if not, whether the submission of the erroneous affidavit/declaration affected the election result.

In another case connected with the election petition, the High Court rejected an application filed by S Kebi Devi. The application was held objecting to the reapplication of the written statement submitted by the petitioner, requesting the court to reject the replication.

The court, however, observed that it did not find any new pleadings or make out a new case, which was not pleaded in the election petition. Rejecting the application, the court stated that the objection raised by the applicant is unsustainable and without merit.
