Manipur Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday extended greetings to the Naga community and people of Manipur on the occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni festival.
In his message, the governor stated that the annually celebrated Lui-Ngai-Ni is a composite festival of all the Nagas of Manipur. Seeking the blessings of the almighty, the occasion is celebrated for a bountiful and bumper harvest, he stated.
“This festival has also come to be recognised as a tourist festival, occupying a unique position not only among the Nagas but also among other communities,” he mentioned.
Highlighting the hope of communal harmony with regards to the celebration, he extended well wishes for the celebration of the festival “in its true spirit of oneness.”
CM Biren conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, particularly to Naga brethren on the auspicious occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni festival.
In his message, Biren stated that Lui-Ngai-Ni, the seed sowing festival celebrated during the spring season, is one of the biggest festivals of the Nagas. During the festival, the blessing of the Almighty is sought for a bountiful harvest on the seeds sown, he stated. The festival, which is celebrated with a splendid display of the rich cultural heritage of the Nagas, also serves as a crucial bond of unity among different communities, he mentioned.
May the festival bring happiness and prosperity and also spread the message of unity, peace and brotherhood amongst all the communities of the State, he further stated. “I join the people of Manipur in the celebration of Lui-Ngai-Ni,” he added.
