Manipur Governor, CM, ministers extend Emoinu wishes

The Governor, in her greetings, said the people of Manipur, especially the Manipuri brethren observed Ima Emoinu puja to mark the return of the indigenous Meitei deity to the residence of her daughter-in-law Piyainu.

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Chief Minister Biren and ministers on Sunday extended greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Emoinu Puja (Goddess of Wealth), 2024.

The Governor, in her greetings, said the people of Manipur, especially the Manipuri brethren observed Ima Emoinu puja to mark the return of the indigenous Meitei deity to the residence of her daughter-in-law Piyainu.

She asserted that however, Ima Emoinu Puja/festival is celebrated at different places of the state with different flavours. She further prayed that the festival brings peace and prosperity to the State.

CM Biren also wished the people of Manipur on the occasion of Ima Imoinu Iratpa Numit, 2024.

In his wishes, the CM said that Manipur is passing through a tumultuous period with vested interest groups attempting to disrupt the fabric of peaceful co-existence among different communities. He lamented that the unprecedented conflict has disrupted all developmental and economic activities, breaking the developmental momentum which we had all become accustomed to witness in the State during the past few years.

He called upon all to join hands to rid Manipur of all the evils shackling and preventing the state from achieving what it could have achieved through collective determination and grit. He prayed that Ima Imoinu shower peace and prosperity to the people of the state in the days ahead and bring emotional integrity among the various communities.

Education Minister Th Basantakumar Singh also extended Emoinu greetings to the people of Manipur and wished that the festival brings peace, prosperity, and happiness to all.

The Minister, in his message, said Emoinu Eratpa is celebrated with traditional gaiety and religious fervour on the twelfth day of Wakching of Manipur’s lunar calendar. The celebration is marked by the lighting of lamps and candles with offerings of seasonal fruits, vegetables and fish to Goddess, he mentioned.

He further said that blessing is sought from Emoinu, believed to be the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity for showering peace and prosperity in the coming year. He added that the celebration keeps alive the tradition and beliefs and also reinforces a culture of working hard and saving for the future.
