Manipur Governor assures support to violence-affected Churachandpur medical students

Y Ingochouba Singh, convenor, Parents’ Guardians’ Association of Churachandpur Medical College (CMC) first batch, MBBS students along with nine others called on the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, on Monday at Raj Bhavan, Imphal and requested to look into the concerns and grievances faced by the 2nd Year medical students of Churachandpur Medical College.

They also requested for providing facilities as per the syllabus and guidelines of NMC and for conducting practical and clinical classes by strictly adhering to the norms laid down by the authorities. They drew the attention of the Governor to look into the concerns and issue and further requested her to convey the matters to the concerned authorities to take steps at the earliest possible time and give permanent solutions.

Governor spoke to chief secretary Vineet Joshi over phone during the meeting and asked to address the grievances faced by the students. Governor assured the guardians and students to extend assistance from her office in the best interest of the students and said a joint meeting of all concerned stakeholders will be called for soon.

Meanwhile, North East India Women Initiative for Peace founder Binalakshmi Nepram along with five members also called on the Governor at the Raj Bhavan, Imphal and requested for convening a meeting with all the mothers from all the communities of Manipur for peace initiatives. The team lauded the humanitarian services of the Governor during the ethnic strife in the state by reaching out to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking refuge in relief camps.

Governor, while informing the continuous efforts of her office and governments for restoring peace and normalcy in the state, seeks suggestions and ground reports of the IDPs staying in relief camps in both hill and valley districts and their required assistance.

Governor extended her heartiest welcome to the visiting IAS officers and wished them to perform their duty diligently in the interest of the countrymen and to work for the welfare of the nation.
