Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey summons CM Biren, CS Vineet Joshi

The Governor’s summons led to wagging of tongues in Imphal which led to speculations of an impending President’s Rule (PR) in the state.

Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Thursday evening convened a meeting with CM N Biren Singh along with chief secretary Vineet Joshi at Raj Bhavan, according to a press release from the Governor’s Secretariat, Raj Bhavan.

The Governor was apprised about the relentless efforts and continuous arrangements made by the government to extend assistance, particularly essential items, to the displaced people residing in various relief camps across the State. Amidst the discussion, the imperative matters of constructing houses for the IDPs and disbursement of financial aid to the IDPs were also deliberated on, the Raj Bhavan stated.

On the disappearance of Khangenbam Apamba Singh of Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai, Imphal West, the Governor stressed on the steps needed to trace out the missing person and to strengthen check posts in the fringe areas aiming to deter cross-over by the people of both sides through effective coordination among law enforcement agencies.

Additionally, the accommodation predicament faced by medical students of CMC (AIQ) was also discussed, the Raj Bhavan stated, adding that the Governor also urged the CM to arrange suitable accommodation for the students.

The speculation became viral in the social media with some ‘sources’ even saying that Union Home Minister Amit Shah convening a meeting with Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with chief secretary Vineet Joshi met the Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Thursday evening at around 5 pm.

The convoy of the Chief Minister entered the Raj Bhavan main gate at around 4.45 pm and had a meeting with the governor.

Sources reported that the meeting was a routine meeting with the Governor to brief the current situation in Manipur.

The convoy was seen leaving the Raj Bhavan at around 6.15 pm.
