Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Friday released ‘State Focus Paper 2024-25’ prepared by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) at Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
The paper outlays a total credit potential of Rs 2963.17 crore for Priority Sector activities in the state of Manipur as defined by the Reserve Bank of India, stated a release .
Releasing the Paper in State Credit Seminar, 2024, held at the Conference Hall of Raj Bhavan, she said, the Potential Link Credit Plan prepared by NABARD has been released by aggregating district wise credit schemes in the form of ‘State Focus Paper’ for the year 2024-25.
She said, the economic development of the state will take place on the basis of this plan. All bankers and government officials will have important contributions in achieving this target. She expressed hope that all the stakeholders will cooperate in achieving the goal by discharging their respective responsibilities with honesty, sensitivity and speed in the stipulated time, it stated.
She continued that in order to enhance the socio-economic status of the villagers of Manipur, their income level and quality of life, it is necessary to fulfill the targets set by NABARD for the development of rural infrastructure in the state and this work can be done only with the cooperation of the officials of the Bank.
It further stated that to ensure prosperity of rural areas, agriculture, cottage and village industries, handicrafts and rural crafts and other economic activities and MSMEs, it is necessary to provide credit facilities, market and fair prices for the promotion and development of the sector. NABARD in its State Focus Paper 2024-25 has estimated the available loan potential at Rs 2,963.17 crore.
Out of this, Rs 1,422.88 crore which is 48 per cent is estimated for agricultural activities, it further stated. Whereas, one thousand one hundred thirty six point twenty two crore rupees which is 38 percent is estimated for MSME and the remaining 14 percent i.e. four hundred four point zero seven crore rupees is estimated for other priority sectors, she added.
She expressed confidence that all stakeholders will work to achieve the target and contribute to the development of the state, it mentioned. Senior representatives of RBI, SBI, PNB, Manipur Rural Bank etc. attended the seminar which was organised by NABARD, Manipur Regional Office, Imphal, it added.
