Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Saturday emphasised the crucial role of media in promoting peace, harmony, and brotherhood beyond caste and religion during the 49th Foundation Day celebration of the Manipur Press Club in Imphal.

Addressing the event, the Governor stressed the media's responsibility in presenting news impartially and truthfully, preserving heritage, and promoting democracy. She commended the media's resilience and recalled her early career inspiration from the media.

The Governor donated Rs 1 lakh for the Manipur Press Club's development. The Governor also laid the foundation stone for Manipur Press Colony and opened the Media Resource Centre in the presence of MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh.
