Manipur government orders further detention of Myanmar national granted bail by High Court
Kyaw Kyaw Naing alias Abdul Rahim of Kawhmu village in Moha Rangoon, Myanmar was granted bail according to the court order released on Friday. However, the government issued an order on Thursday for further detention of the Myanmar national for a period of three more months until further orders.

The Manipur government has ordered further detention of a Myanmar national, who was granted bail by the High Court of Manipur after being detained under NSA for allegedly smuggling drugs and under the Foreigners Act.
The accused, Kyaw Kyaw Naing alias Abdul Rahim of Kawhmu village in Moha Rangoon, Myanmar was granted bail according to the court order released on Friday. However, the government issued an order on Thursday for further detention of the Myanmar national for a period of three more months until further orders.

Kyaw Kyaw was arrested by a team of Manipur police from the gate of Imphal airport on September 24, 2019 in connection with the seizing of a large quantity of drugs worth Rs 400 crore.
The detention order issued by the state home department stated, “It is highly suspected that the accused, being a kingpin of drug traffickers and a foreign national, will continue his illegal activities even after his release”.

It further said that the detention order may be executed in any place in India in the manner provided for the execution of warrants of arrest under the code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
