State forces on Friday arrested five active members of the outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) (Military Task Force) in possession of arms and ammunition.
A combined team of Andro Police station and CDO/ IE, led by Inspector Kh Henery Singh, OC-CDO/IE Unit under the command of Kh Herojit Singh, additional SP(Ops) IE and under the overall supervision of S Ibomcha Singh, Superintendent of Police, Imphal East District arrested the members during a cordon and search operations conducted at Yairipok Yambem and Changamdabi Villages under Andro PS Imphal East District on Friday.
The arrested persons are Singam Kabikanta Singh (31), son of S Biren Singh of Thoubal Wangkhem Mamang Leikai, Thoubal District; Ngangom Tangba Meitei (30), son of (L) Ng Ingocha Meitei of Sekta Mayai Leikai, Imphal East; Sadokpam Nongpoknganba Singh (22), son of S Kouremba Singh of Yairipok Phangjakhong, Thoubal; Konsam Anao Singh (26), son of K Thoiba Singh of Mayang Imphal Thana Mamang Leikai and Md Iliyas Khan (30), son of (L) Md Waris Khan of Yairipok Changamdabi Makha Leikai, Imphal East.
They were arrested at around 1.15 pm from Yairipok Changamdabi near Primary School. They disclosed that they have been involved in extortion activities from the general public, government officials and businessmen.
The items recovered from their possessions are one 32 Pistol loaded with six live rounds in the magazine, four 38 live ammunition, six AK- ammunition, 12 7.62 SLR live ammunition, three 7.62 ammunition charger clip, five mobile Phone handsets, one Pistol Holster, three pairs of fighting dress with one scarf, four pairs of Jungle Boot shoes, one BP Jacket, one jungle hat, two wallets, two belts, a sum of rupees 2,090 and one Hyundai i20 car without registration number.
The arrested persons and recovered items have been handed over to Andro PS for further legal formalities.
