Manipur firefighters withdraw cease work strike

Leaders of 16 JAT Regiment conveyed their apology regarding the incident at New Checkon on Monday, Manipur Fire Service Imphal stated.

The Manipur Fire Service has withdrawn their cease work strike following an apology from 16 JAT Regiment leaders regarding the incident at New Checkon on Monday in which personnel of the regiment reportedly assaulted the firefighters.

A release issued by Manipur Fire Service Imphal stated that in a meeting with Manipur Fire Service employees on Tuesday, leaders of 16 JAT Regiment conveyed their apology regarding the incident at New Checkon on Monday (May 22) in which personnel of 16 Jat Regiment assaulted firefighters who were performing their duty to douse the fire, reportedly.

During the meeting, the leaders of the 16 Jat Regiment assured that disciplinary action would be taken against the personnel involved. They added that such incidents would not occur in the future, according to the release.

Following the 16 Jat Regiment’s assurance, the fire service withdrew the cease work strike until further notice, it added.
