Manipur: Father-son duo killed in road accident

A 37-year-old man was killed along with his six-year-old son in a road mishap along Imphal-Moreh road, National Highway 102 on Friday.

In a tragic incident, a 37-year-old man was killed along with his six-year-old son in a road mishap along Imphal-Moreh road, National Highway 102 on Friday.

The deceased father and son have been identified as Phuritsabam Sanahal, 37 years, son of late Dura from Salungpham Kangthokchao mayai Leikai and his son, Baby Rumpish, six years, police said.

According to sources, the accident reportedly occurred near Khongjom War Memorial complex gate under Khongjom police station in Thoubal district around 2.30 pm. It is said that the two-wheeler Dx Dio bike bearing registration number MN-06SD-9928, which was driven by Sanahal crashed with an i20 Asta bearing registration number MN-01AS-3001.

The i20 car reportedly came from Khongjom to Wangjing, while the two-wheeler was going towards Khongjom from Salungpham. Sanahal died on the spot, sources said.

His six-year-old kid was immediately rushed to Thoubal district hospital for necessary treatments, however he succumbed to his injuries, sources added.

Meanwhile, Khongjom Police station has registered a case on the incident and seized the two vehicles involved in the crash. The dead bodies of the father-son duo have been shifted to JNIMS morgue for postmortem.
