In a strong condemnation, family members of the June 18 martyrs have expressed outrage over the recent burning of the United Committee Manipur (UCM) office by armed miscreants.
The incident, which occurred late at night on February 23, has left the community reeling with shock and anger.
Addressing the media at the Kekrupat Memorial Complex in Imphal, L Phalguni, wife of late L Rajkumar (a martyr of June 18), lamented the devastating loss caused by the arson attack.
She revealed that precious photos and related documents of the martyrs of June 18 were reduced to ashes during the heinous act at the UCM office in Lamphelpat, Imphal.
Phalguni emphasised that many of these documents and photos held immense sentimental value for the families of the martyrs and were irreplaceable.
They were not merely papers and images but embodied the memories and sacrifices of their loved ones, she said, adding the UCM office served as a repository of these historical artifacts, making the arson attack all the more tragic.
Expressing deep anguish, Phalguni asserted that the actions of the armed miscreants had inflicted emotional wounds on the families of the martyrs. She called upon the responsible groups or individuals behind the arson to provide clarification on the grounds for such a reprehensible act.
