Manipur: Executive engineers instructed to to monitor available resources to help mitigate flood havoc

Manipur has been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall since Monday night, leading to widespread flooding, mudslides, and landslides across the state.

In view of the heavy rainfall pertaining in Manipur as a consequence of the Cyclone Remal, the state Water Resources Department on Wednesday instructed the executive engineers of the department to monitor and mobilize available resources to help mitigate the flood havoc under their jurisdiction.

According to an order issued by Water Resources Department chief engineer Remmei Alimmei, executive engineer, FCD- I  H RojiKa Devi has been instructed to monitor the areas under the jurisdiction of Imphal East, Jiribam, Senapati and Kangpokpi. Devi can be contacted at 8770195306; Dhruba Oinam, executive engineer, FCD- II to monitor and mobilize Imphal West, Noney, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul, and can be contacted at 9856208829; executive engineer, FCD- III, Laishram Mahenjo Singh to monitor Thoubal, Kakching and Chandel and can be contacted at 8798471505; executive engineer, FCD- IV Kh Dineshchandra Singh to monitor Bishnupur and Churachandpur and con be contacted 7005520274. 

It may be mentioned that Manipur has been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall since Monday night, leading to widespread flooding, mudslides, and landslides across the state. The relentless downpour has caused a significant rise in river levels, heightening concerns about further damage and disruptions. Many houses along the banks of the Sekmai River have been flooded up to their roofs, with some huts being carried away by the strong currents.

Residents have been urged to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep updated with official announcements and public advisory has been issued on do and don’t by the respective district administration for each district.
