Manipur: EVMs, VVPATs commissioning for Bishnupur, Pherzawl begins

District election officer of Bishnupur has launched a poster campaign as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation programme.

The commissioning of EVMs and VVPATs for Bishnupur district started at the Assembly Segment Strong Room, Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur on Friday.

The process was overseen by the assistant returning officers ensuring a transparent and inclusive approach with the presence of political party representatives functioning in the district.

Meanwhile, the district election officer of Bishnupur has launched a poster campaign as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation programme.

This initiative seeks to empower voters through education, highlighting the importance of informed voting and the legal implications of electoral bribery, thereby encouraging a responsible and literate voter base.

The district electoral officer has also notified that the second round of training for the polling personnel, who have been appointed as presiding officers, PO 1, PO 2, and PO 3 in respect of all the six assembly segments of Bishnupur district, will commence from Saturday.

The two-day training programme will be held at Thambal Marik College, Oinam for 24-Nambol AC and 25-Oinam AC; PRC Hall Mini Secretariat Complex for 26-Bishenpur AC; and CI College, Bishnupur for 27-Moirang AC, 28-Thanga AC and 29-Kumbi AC.

All the Assembly Level Master Trainers, ALMTs are notified to reach their assigned training venue 30 minutes ahead of the training schedule.

Meanwhile, the second randomization and commissioning of EVM/VVPAT machines for Pherzawl district was also conducted at the DC Office Complex.

The entire exercise was carried out in the presence of concerned election officials and authorised agents of parties/candidates with the assistance of engineers from Electronics Corporation of India Ltd.

During Commissioning, every EVM/VVPAT to be utilised in the 78 polling stations under the two assembly segments within Pherzawl district is checked by casting 1 vote to each candidate’s button including NOTA.

In addition, higher Mock Poll is conducted in 5% randomly selected EVMs by casting 1,000 votes. District election office, Pherzawl has been working tirelessly to ensure completion of the Commissioning process by Saturday.

Post Commissioning, EVMs/VVPATs will be secured until dispersal day at the DC Office complex in a high security Strong Room complete with 24x7 CCTV surveillance.
