The restrictions, implemented by All Kongba Road United Clubs’ Organisation (AKRUCO) after consultations with local clubs and meira paibi groups, mandate that no armed individuals are allowed to enter the area under its jurisdiction after 8 pm without prior consent from the local clubs and meira paibis.

AKRUCO issued a stern warning that any armed individuals found in the area without permission will be held solely responsible for any consequences that may arise.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 8 pm on Wednesday when unidentified armed individuals, travelling in a Scorpio and a Gypsy vehicle, arrived at the Kongba Nongthombam Leikai Club ground.

Without any provocation, they brutally assaulted and tortured the club members who were working on repairing the ground, as per report.

The assailants’ actions have been widely condemned by the local community. Womenfolk from the area staged a sit-in protest on Thursday expressing their condemnation of the violent act, demanding that the perpetrators refrain from committing such crimes in the future, particularly in the Kongba area.
