Manipur Election 2022 Phase-2 Repoll: 68.5 per cent voter turnout recorded

The poll percentage for one of the seven polling stations, namely Paupai Renet Primary School in Senapati district was recorded 0.76 per cent only.

The repoll for seven polling stations held on Tuesday across five constituencies in three districts of Manipur - Ukhrul, Senapati and Thoubal - concluded peacefully with 66.5  per cent total voter turnout.

However, the poll percentage for one of the seven polling stations, namely Paupai Renet Primary School was recorded 0.76 per cent only.

This polling booth is situated in Tadubi constituency, Senapati district wherein the total number of voters is officially recorded to be 789, of which 412 are males and 377 females voters. But, only six voters cast their votes at Paupai Renet Primary School, one of the two polling booths scheduled for the repoll.

In Wangjing Hodamba booth, in Wangjing-Tentha constituency of Thoubal district, 559 voters exercised their franchise of the total 859; 962 in Ukhrul (E-2) of 1,231 voters, 528 votes in Kalhang of 729; 757 in Peh (B) of 952; 1,021 in Namju UJB School of 1,055 voters; 76 votes in Songphung Primary School of 91 voters.

The CEO Manipur cited damage to EVMs by miscreants as reason for repoll in the seven polling stations. A total of 12 EVMs were damaged by miscreants during the final phase elections held on March 5, the state CEO said.

Counting of votes will be conducted on March 10.
