The Pambei led UNLF along with the Anjuman seized Heroin number 4 worth around Rs 17.5 lakh in the local market and apprehended four drug peddlers.
The general secretary of the Anjuman Md Habibullah told the media at its Lilong office, Imphal West on Sunday that on Wednesday night, the Muslim civil body, along with Pambei led UNLF apprehended one Heibokmayum Ithem, alias Wahajuddil, 37, son of late Heirokmayum Kayajudin, and Atombi of Lilong Leihaokhong.
He said the joint team seized 20 cases of heroin number 4 (type 7) from the possession of Ithem. On questioning, it was learned that Ithem has been in the drug business for the last seven months. He further disclosed that he received drugs from one Heibongmayum Siraj, son of H Allimudin of Kwakta, Bishnupur district.
Kwakta is a village located between Moirang town and the Kuki-dominated villages such as Kangvai and Torbung of Churachandpur district.
Habibullah said from their disclosure, it is also learned that the seized drug is to be sold to one Nawaj of Lilong Darulu, Turel Ahanbi. On further questioning, Ithem disclosed three of his accomplices who are involved in the drug business.
The joint team further apprehended the three accomplices, namely Md Fayaz Khan, 28, son of Md Asrabli and Rufiya; Mayangmayum Champa, 36, daughter of M Salim and late Slidun; and Mayangmayum Bobby, 32, daughter of late Alli and Sanahanbi, all three from Hatta Makha Leikai, Imphal East district.
The three apprehended persons revealed that they are drug dealers and they buy drugs from Kwakta most of the time. Habibullah said earlier on May 31, the same joint team apprehended one drug peddler named Chetsabam Juma Khan of Irong Makha Leikai. Fifty more cases of heroin powder were again seized from his possession.
Altogether, 70 cases of Heroin number 4 were seized from the five drug peddlers, which could be worth around Rs 17.5 lakh in the local market.
The seized drugs were burned down at the office complex of Anjuman, Lilong, after they were produced in front of the media. The apprehended drug peddlers are still under the custody of Pambei led UNLF.
