Manipur: Dismembered body of woman found in Churachandpur

According to Churachandpur police, the body of the unidentified woman had started to decompose when it was found.

The body of a woman with dismembered limbs was found in a drain at IB Road, opposite Lamka Central High School in Churachandpur district around 7 am on Monday.  

According to Churachandpur police, the naked body of the unidentified woman had started to decompose when it was found.

The body was discovered when a shop owner along with locals tried to clean the drain in front of her shop after it was found blocked in the morning, as per sources.

The drain is about two feet wide. The body was later taken by the police and kept at the District Hospital Morgue.

The body was found with many of her limbs like the nose and ears missing, making it hard to identify the corpse which was suspected to have been placed during the previous night as the area remains a busy market area during daytime.

The police have registered an Unnatural Death Case No 2/CCP- WPS/2024 u/s 174 CrPC at Churachandpur Police station. A Forensic Expert team from Imphal has been called in, and the cause of death including her age and other details will be ascertained after they arrive, as per sources.

No one has come to claim the body till the filing of this report.
