The Taragi Cheisu on Friday emphasised the imperative of unity among all civil bodies in Manipur under a common minimum programme to address the ongoing crisis and restore normalcy in violence-affected areas.

Speaking to the media at its office in Imphal, chairman of Taragi Cheisu Khaidem Mani highlighted the proliferation of civil bodies which are all working for the betterment of Manipur, but on individual level as a weakness hindering effective solutions to the current situation in the valley region.

Mani stressed the necessity for collaboration among civil bodies under a common minimum programme, particularly focusing on peace restoration efforts in Manipur.

He emphasised that coordinated actions, backed by consensus and dialogue among civil bodies, are essential for organising effective agitations or movements.

Furthermore, he suggested that through a common minimum programme, civil bodies could strategise on how to engage the Central government and initiate political dialogue to facilitate peace restoration in Manipur.

Emphasising the continued violence and the ineffectiveness in achieving peace, Mani advocated for dialogue with intervention from a third party, notably the Central government, as the key to restoring normalcy in Manipur.

In light of these urgent needs, the chairman stressed the importance of forming a unified front comprising all civil bodies under a common minimum programme.

He extended an invitation to representatives from civil bodies across Manipur to attend a meeting organised by Taragi Cheisu on Saturday at the campus of the Huyen Lalaong Thang-Ta Association in Yumnam Huidrom, Imphal West.

The meeting aims to facilitate discussions and consensus-building among civil bodies to devise collective strategies for addressing the current crisis and restoring peace in Manipur, he added.
