General secretary (administration), Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Hareshwar Goshwami told the Imphal Free Press over the phone that as it was mentioned in the order issued by MPCC that Joykisan was suspended under article XXVII (h) of INC’s constitution.

Goshwami further said there are some two-three issues following which he was suspended. However, Article XXVII(h) was one of the major reason. Article XXVII(h) of INC’s constitution mentioned that one primary member of INC can be suspended under the power of MPCC if a member failed to attend meeting of the party three times consecutively.

The general secretary said the other reason for his suspension cannot be mentioned as it will need to go through the INC constitution.

Meanwhile, state BJP vice-president Ch Chidananda told the Imphal Free Press that at present no information of former Congress MLA Joykisan joining the BJP has been received.

Joykisan earlier joined the BJP in May 2015 from the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and was elected as BJP candidate during the by-poll election in 2015. He, later, contested the 2017 election with INC ticket after he tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the BJP on December 21, 2016.

During the time of his resignation from the BJP party he had expressed that he decided to quit the party because BJP failed to address the problems of the people of the state.

He was elected as MLA from Thangmeiband assembly constituency under AITC in 2012 election which was his debut election.
