The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) joined the nation on Monday in commemorating the 60th death anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister. The event, held at Congress Bhawan in Imphal, was marked by a solemn tribute to Nehru’s legacy, with floral offerings made to his bust erected within the premises.
During the commemoration, CLP leader O Ibobi Singh spoke about Nehru’s significant contributions to India’s freedom struggle and his pivotal role in shaping the nation post-independence. He emphasised Nehru’s vision of a modern India, a vision that has been recognised and respected globally.
“Pandit Nehru’s contributions to the freedom movement and his role in building a new India are unparalleled. He is rightfully regarded as the modern architect of India,” Ibobi said.
He further highlighted the responsibility of the Congress party and its members to realise Nehru’s dream of a progressive and prosperous India.
The event also witnessed the presence of MPCC president K Meghachandra, MLA K Ranjit, and other office bearers of the MPCC.
