Manipur CM urged to hold meeting with all political parties

MPCC vice president Hareswar Goswami stressed on the need to understand the current situation of Manipur.

The 10 political parties of Manipur made another appeal to the Chief Minister N Biren Singh to hold a meeting with all the political parties irrespective of Opposition to deliberate on finding a solution to the protracted Manipur unrest.

Speaking to the media on Saturday at Manipur Press Club, Sheva Sena Manipur State Unit (Uddav Balashaheb Thackeray) president Toijam Debananda Singh said that it has been nine months the violence in the state is continuing without a reaching a solution. The 10 political parties had submitted various memorandums and also met with different ministries except the Prime Minister.

“The PM still remains silent and not giving appointments to any person who wants to see him,” said Debananda, adding that the state can no longer wait for his appointment. 

The chief minister should consider the complex situation of the state at the moment, he said, raising concern that the killing of civilians and the attacks on security forces have not stopped.

Considering the prevailing situation in the state, the ten political parties are once again appealing to the chief minister for a meeting with all political parties, he said.

MPCC vice president Hareswar Goswami stressed on the need to understand the current situation of Manipur. Poppy plantation and narco-terrorism are the factors behind the violence but the situation seems to be an issue of geo-politics, he said.

The Prime Minister’s intervention is highly necessary at this critical juncture, he said, adding, the chief minister should hold a meeting and take necessary steps to meet with the PM.
