Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday met chiefs and representatives of Kom community at his official residence in Imphal and discussed development and welfare of the community.
Biren mentioned the interaction with the Kom community in a series of tweets.
"I was called on by chiefs of the Kom community and representatives of Kom Union Manipur (KUM) at my official residence today. Deliberated on the areas where growth and development are required for the welfare of the community," Biren tweeted.
In another tweet, the chief minister mentioned the Berkap Leh Reiju Festival of the Kom community to be organised at Ichum Keirap Kom village.
"I also look forward to seeing that the Berkap Leh Reiju Festival is successfully organised at Ichum Keirap Kom Village," Biren said.
Ichum Keirap is a small village located in Saitu Gamphazol subdivision of Senapati district, Manipur, about 88km away from district headquarter Senapati. The village has a total population of 590 people and 97 houses, according to the 2011 Census.
