The Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Golmei Gaiphushillu, Judge of the High Court accompanied by Alek Muivah, Member Secretary, MASLSA and others judicial officials on Friday visited two relief camps in Churachandpur where they distributed relief materials and others essentials that are needed by the IDPs.
The relief materials were distributed at two relief camps namely Thinkangphai Community Hall Relief Camp and Lanva TD Block Relief Camp. It was jointly organised by the High Court of Manipur, Manipur State Legal Service Authority (MASLSA) and All Manipur Judicial Officers Association (AMJOA).
The Chief Justice and his team were received at Churachandpur by the District Legal service team at District and Session Court, Tuibong and at the two relief camps by the District Administration teams led by Churachandpur DC Dharun Kumar and Churachandpur ADC CEO Lalthazam.
The items that are distributed include mattress, diapers, plastic mat, jumbo box, bucket and mug, torchlight with lamp, baby food supplements, sports items like football and badminton racket and bicycle for school going students were handed out to the IDPs by the team led by Chief Justice of Manipur.
The Chief Justice and his team interacted with the IDPs who complained of extreme heat in their congested rooms, for which the Chief Justice promised to deliver fans of their choice while also asking them to make known their shortcomings to the Para Legal Volunteers.
At Lanva TD Block Relief Camp, the Chief Justice said that he will ensure that the institution of high court will insist on the rule of law, and not only justice will prevail but peace. The Chief Justice and his team also inspected the infrastructure of both the Relief Camps where he was also presented with handicrafts made by inmates of the Relief Camp.
Taking advantage of the visit by the Chief Justice, the ZSF submitted a memorandum to the Chief Justice on the plight of the student community.
