Manipur Cabinet clears 100 per cent direct recruitment in Home department

Among the posts approved for direct recruitment included 136 posts of sub-inspector (male), 100 assistant sub-inspector (male), 25 assistant sub-inspector (female).

The Manipur cabinet meeting held in Chandel district decided to conduct direct recruitment for filling up 50 per cent of vacant posts in various departments and 100 per cent in the Home department.

Briefing the media regarding the cabinet meeting held on Monday at Chandel DC office, Chief Minister N Biren said, the cabinet meeting was held as a part of the government’s initiative to take governance in the hill districts under the Go to Hills Mission.

Home department is being held by the chief minister himself and most of the departments for which direct recruitment were cleared in the Cabinet meeting on Monday are under him, according to sources.

Among the posts approved for direct recruitment included 136 posts of sub-inspector (male), 100 assistant sub-inspector (male), 25 assistant sub-inspector (female). 

In the cabinet meeting, a total of 49 agenda items were taken up for approval.

The cabinet today approved ex-gratia and compensation to next kin of five deceased and 14 injured of Lilong Chingjao incident of January 2, 2024 and ex-gratia and appointment of next kin of Chingakham Lamyanba Meitei killed on December 31, 2023.

Appointment of new staffs of Rajya Sainik Board, Manipur and direct recruitment in home department, art and culture department, electrical department, minor irrigation department, MoBEDS, Tourism department, GAD, Taxation department, Excise department, Treasury and Accounts department, Directorate of Institutional Finance and CADA were approved.

The cabinet approved Chief Minister's Farmer Livelihood Support Scheme, Chief Minister's Sportspersons Livelihood Guarantee Scheme, Chief Minister's Khungang Ama Sanabung Ama, Chief Minister's Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme.

Proposal to exempt the recruitment and declaration of result for Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers and Mini-Anganwadi Workers under Anganwadi Services in the department of Social Welfare from the present ban on recruitment was also approved.

In Manipur Information Commission, direct recruitment for filling up 50 per cent of existing vacancies was approved in relaxation of the ban on direct recruitment and in pursuance of DPs OM on recruitment.

The cabinet also approved regularisation of director in-charge and OSD in-charge to respective incumbents with one time relaxation of period of joint directorship in Directorate of Environment and Climate Change and department of forest, Environment and Climate Change.

In an unlisted agenda, the cabinet approved transfer of 130 acres of land contiguous to Leimakhong Military Station to the Army in lieu of 69.91/74.24 acres of Defence land at Koirengei Old Airfield to the state government.

Regarding the cabinet, CM Biren took to platform X and mentioned, "Chaired a cabinet meeting at DC Office, Chandel. With cooperation and support from all sections, we will achieve various milestones in terms of connectivity, infrastructure, health and education, etc for the overall growth and well-being of the people of Chandel".

The cabinet meeting was attended by several key ministers including Thongam Biswajit, Yumnam Khemchand, Konthoujam Govindas, Awangbow Newmai, Sapam Ranjan, Leishangthem Susindro, Heikham Dingo, Thounaojam Basantakumar and Khashim Vashum, while Letpao Haokip and Nemcha Kipgen were absent.
