A Chinese hand grenade planted by miscreants inside a dustbin at Princeton International School, Kshetri Awang Leikai under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East was found around 4 am on Sunday morning.
The vice principal, Swed Sultan, found the bomb planted inside a dustbin.
A Bomb Disposal Squad of Manipur Police arrived and collected the bomb around 4.42 am and it was safely disposed of at Nongmaijing Chingkhong around 7.13 am.
Meanwhile, the students and staff of the Princeton International School, Kshetrigao on Sunday staged a sit-in at the school complex decrying the bomb threat.
During the sit-in, protestors raised several placards condemning the heinous act which could have potentially killed innocent students and staff of the school.
The protestors also appealed to those responsible not to commit such actions in educational space and make education a violence free zone.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the protest, a teacher of the school Roshibina Thokchom stated that young minds of the society are moulded in educational institutions.
She highlighted that students who are going to appear at the 10th and 12th board examination were also staying at the school.
Planting a bomb at such a place is totally outrageous and uncalled for, she added. She maintained that the bomb threat could inflict trauma and stress on the students and appealed to those concerned not to commit such acts in the future.
Meanwhile, a student of the school condemned the bomb threat at the school and stated that the incident had triggered panic among the parents and students.
The student also appealed to authorities concerned to look into the matter and apprehend the culprits involved.
