Miscreants left a bomb suspected to be a hand grenade in front of the main gate of one Youth of Manipur (YoM) volunteer located at Singjamei Sapam Leikai, Imphal West under Singjamei Police Station on Wednesday.
The YoM member has been identified as one Huidrom Tomthin, 39, son of H Nandakumar of Singjamei Sapam Leikai, Imphal West.
As per sources, a family member of Tomthin found a plastic cover placed in front of the corner of the main gate in a suspicious manner around 6.40 pm.
The matter was informed to Singjamei police station. Immediately, a police team rushed to the spot and recovered the suspected grenade safely.
A case has been registered at Singjamei Police Station for further investigation. Why the bomb was planted at the residence of Tomthin who is one of the leading volunteers of the ‘Youth of Manipur’ is yet to be ascertained.
It may be recalled that volunteers of YoM have been continuing a movement to bring peace in Manipur. Recently, a team of youths went to Delhi to meet the MLAs who were camping at Delhi to meet the central leaders to solve the Manipur issue.
The YoM expressed disappointment and charged that MLAs who are camping at Delhi are not able to meet the central leaders.
In continuation of the movement of YoM, volunteers have been organising various small public meetings at several assembly constituencies, and even continuing to meet the MLAs and MPs of Manipur.
Some volunteers of YoM met Rajya Sabha MP, Leishemba Sanajaoba at his residence on Wednesday to discuss the present issue and to bring back normalcy.
