Manipur: Body found with bullet wound, JAC formed

The JAC submitted a memorandum to CM Biren on Sunday evening demanding ex-gratia to the deceased family

Thoubal Dam police recovered a body at Monglham Karoong hill slope with a bullet wound around 7.30 am on Sunday.

The body has been identified as Ningthoujam Mannisana, 31, son of (L) N Jilangamba of Sangaithel Maning Leikai, Imphal West.

A suo-moto case has been registered under FIR No. 09(09) 2024 TBL-DAM-PS U/s 302/34 IPC and 25 (I-C) A. Act.

In connection with the incident a public meeting was organised at Sangaithel on the same day.

The meeting resolved to form a joint action committee named as ‘Joint action committee against brutal killing of Ningthoujam Manisana Singh of Sangaithel village volunteer at Itham Village on February 8’.

Leichonbam Bimol Meitei was appointed as convenor of the JAC while Kakyempaibam Bala, Shamjetsabam Patama, K Manihal Devi and K Ngongo Singh as co-convenor; N Shekhar Meitei and Thokchom Ghambir were also appointed as advisor of the JAC.

Further, the JAC submitted a memorandum to CM Biren on Sunday evening demanding ex-gratia to the deceased family, appropriate government job to the wife of the deceased, to book the culprits within 48 hours under law and immediate abrogation of SoO with Kuki militants.

The JAC further resolved that if the demands are not fulfilled, the body of Manisana will not be accepted but rather, democratic form of agitations will be taken up in support of CSOs.
